Climate science creates discussion in Texas

If you realize that levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are at record levels and that there has been no appreciable increase in temperature for something like 18 years, you have to wonder at the politics involved with the left-wing denial and persistence with the "climate change" (they would call it global warming if they dared) story. Here we go again, this time in Texas.

Another joke from Business Insider

I like a lot of things about Business Insider. What I don't like is when they throw out garbage about left-wing stuff that is designed to please Supreme Leader Obama, President for Life. A prime example is the story about how fracking is finished. This is a total fantasy story designed to make our extreme left-wing environmentalists happy.

Second Amendment rights

From what Marc Danziger says on Facebook, the Supreme Court doesn't agree that the Second Amendment doesn't provide a constitutionally guaranteed right to own a gun. So, at some point, is Supreme Leader Obama (President for Life) going to bring in 20 or 30,000 mercenaries from the Central African Republic and the Congo, give them Viagra, AK-47's, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. They would be sent door to door to collect all the guns and do whatever else they would like. Actually, they would need a much larger force to do the job. Even attempting to confiscate guns would mean a civil war. I know too many guys in Texas with AR-15's or AK-47's and ten or fifteen thousand rounds buried in the back yard. I am sure that there are a lot more in other states, as well. Obama would need the Taliban, Al Qaeda, the Mexican drug cartels, and the big city street gangs to even think about confiscating guns.

The Vought Crusader III

There is some weird political story behind the Vought Crusader III. A small batch of aircraft was built and they were flown from Patuxant Naval Air Station for a time. The pilots delighted in showing the aircraft's superiority to the F-4 Phantom. Those demonstrations angered a political backer of the F-4 and he forced the navy to scrap the Vought Crusader III's so that there was no chance that anyone would want to produce the aircraft as a competitor to the Phantom. I would be interested to know who it was that forced the scrapping.

We seem to be in a bad spot

I joke about this, but I think that President Obama plans to stay in power after 2016. I call him "Supreme Leader Obama, President for Life" only half-jokingly. After another decade or so of his rule, we will be almost as good as Venezuela. I am an odd sort, as I am not a Communist and am not a right-wing extremist. My parents were both Rockefeller Republicans. I am the sort that both the Communists and right-wing extremists want to stomp out. I am perfectly happy to keep living under the "benign" rule of Supreme Leader Obama. I don't want to see a fight. My concern is that when President Obama stays in power, that will provoke a fight. The one really wild card out there is the Yellowstone volcano. I expect that it will blow sometime relatively soon and everything will be devastated.

Dallas-centric stuff

Many people in Dallas hate John Wiley Price. He is the gadfly, black, Democratic Dallas County Commissioner. And yes, he is probably a crook. Obama's justice department has been harassing John Wiley Price for three years. They only want to neutralize him, not to indict him (seemingly). John Wiley Price and some Hispanic Democrat women judges are the only ones in the city of Dallas and Dallas County that are willing to stand up to the white, millionaire Democrats, mostly trial lawyers, who run the city of Dallas and Dallas County now. Their strategy is to gentrify as much as they can to drive out the poor people of color. One of the first things that they had Mayor Mike Rawlings do is to get the Black homeless of the streets of Dallas. If the rich, while millionaire Democrats don't "own you", you will have a hard time getting elected in Dallas. If they do own you, you will be floating in money. John Wiley Price really is "our man downtown", because he is one of the few independent voices left. Even Domingo Garcia is out there begging Lisa Blue to pick him up and he will do whatever she wants. That is the world we live in, whether you like it or not.

The Zimmerman trial

You can tell that I am a low-information person. I did not get the word that I was supposed to think that Trayvon Martin was supposed to be in the gated community. Trayvon Martin apparently did not send the text messages where he said he was going to kill someone. This was a situation where George Zimmerman was out looking for trouble and followed Trayvon Martin (who still looked like he did when he was 13, not as he actually looked at 17). George Zimmerman stalked Trayvon Martin, attacked him, knocking him down, and started beating on him. After a while, he thought it would be fun to shoot Trayvon Martin and he did. It was obviously Trayvon Martin who was screaming for help. The people who want to lynch George Zimmerman and leave his body hanging from a tree certainly believe all that. Apparently, President Obama at least pretends that he believes it as well.

A member of the team

We have a friend who considers herself to be a good left-wing person. What she really is, is a member of the Democrat and Obama team. She identifies with the team and wants them to win. She learns what the current talking points are and uses those to guide her speech and thinking. She doesn't care if the current team talking points violate her principles, because she is only interested in seeing the team win.

Ted Rall is a real left-wing hero. He is not a team member and he is principled and does not want to see his principles violated by politicians. I am surprised that Supreme Leader Obama (president for life) has not either sent Ted Rall off to a Gulag or else has had a drone fire Hellfire missiles at him.

Hey, the IRS business is no big deal

The IRS investigating conservative groups was no big deal. They were only doing what they thought that the president wanted them to do.

Supreme Leader Obama

If you don't think that Supreme Leader Obama (President for Life) is planning on being president in 2017 and beyond, you have not been paying attention. This morning, I was also convinced that he thinks that he is the Anti-Christ. I don't know that I even believe in that sort of thing, but I think that he does. He likes to have total control of the message on the television and radio news. That is why I would be surprised if Hillary Clinton was behind the State Department talking points on Benghazi that refused to call the attack on the embassy "terrorism". I think that if Hillary was involved, she was just carrying water for the president. Who knows, but that is my sense of what is happening.

Because of Greece's decline of a token British force, the British forces in North Africa were allowed to advance to Benghazi. The commanders in Britain also decided that British forces should take the island of Rhodes and other islands in the Dodecanese belonging to Italy. General Metaxis and General Papagos were unsure what lines to defend, partly due to uncertainty over what Yugoslavia would do. If they cooperated with Germany, Greek forces would defend a line along the Aliakmon and Venetikos Rivers. This was a short front that would face the Italians in Albania. While this was being decided, General Wavell was told to prepare four divisions for service in the Balkans, in event of a German invasion. By the end of January 1941, the Italians attacked that quickly failed. This is based on the account in Vol.II of the Australian Official History.

Obama apparently wants to put the Muslim Brotherhood in charge of Egypt

From the latest news. Obama is intent on removing Hosni Mubarak as president of Egypt. From reports, Obama has been in communication with the Muslim Brotherhood for some time. Obama seems to want to put them in charge, despite them being anti-American and virulently anti-Israel. I have a lot of sympathy for the people who liked the stability of the Mubarak government and who profited from peace with Israel. Our administration is apparently pursuing a policy which will end up destabilizing the region and bringing about increased violence and possibly warfare.

Clayton Cramer is blogging again

Clayton Cramer is someone that I used to link to in the past. He was recently the target of the Copyright Trolls, who are out for no good, and he was forced to shut down for a while. He is now back up and blogging at Clayton Cramer's Blog. Clayton Cramer comes across as a social conservative, but he is also a strong supporter of gun rights and writes about the mentally ill who commit crimes and who are failed by the system. He is a programmer, like many of us, and is interested in history.

The contested 2000 presidential election

Tonight on Sixty Minutes, the interviewer made some comment about how some people thought that the Supreme Court stole the election for George W. Bush. The truth is something else again. There was this circus going on in Florida, the aim of which was to steal the election for Al Gore. Al Gore legitimately came close to winning, but the left was not content to let the process proceed to its natural conclusion. Instead, they were intent on ensuring that Al Gore won by all possible means. The Supreme Court put a stop to the circus, which was the real attempt to steal the election.

How to play Texas Cash Five without a computer program

I was talking with a cashier from a local grocery store, while we were both in line. She was not working and buying groceries. She plays another lottery game, but I promoted Cash Five as an easy game to win. Get a pick that has two winning numbers and you win $2. I realized that there might be some interest among lottery players about how to win at Cash Five without using a computer program. I would highly recommend Gail Howard's "master guide" and her book about playing five number games. You can find them on Amazon.com. You want a book so you are able to "wheel" numbers.

The first step is to rank numbers, from the most likely to win to the least likely. A simple way that works moderately well is to rank numbers by the last time that they won. Those that won most recently would be placed at the top and the ones that have gone the longest time since winning go at the bottom. You can make a list of numbers from 1 to 37 and then go the winning history on the Lottery website and find the date when they last won.

I would recommend taking several small wheels and write down the template on paper. I would then fill in the numbers from your orders list. You could play some or all from what is generated, and you would have a chance to win something. A good way to selectively pick what to play from a wheel, so you don't have to play the entire wheel, is to do the process of ranking numbers for ten previous games. Then, use your wheels of choice and fill in the ranked numbers. From what you have generated, figure out what would have won and mark those combinations from the wheel results. Now look over the last 10 games or however many you wanted to do, and look for positions in the wheel that won more than once. I would play those multi-win positions in the current game.

If you have the ability to use wheels without buying a book, so much the better. If you have the books, you can read about some of the approaches that can be tried, when trying to rank numbers.

Facebook problems

Because I was trying to use Facebook from my hotel room, Facebook has gone crazy. I hope that when I am home, using my desktop computer, that Facebook will mellow out. How much do you know about your "Facebook Friends"?. Some of them, I don't know at all, and Facebook wants me to identify them in photographs? Give me a break.

"Former Naval Person Typepad" just got a big jump in traffic

I was interested to see that "Former Naval Person Typepad" had a big jump in traffic, starting yesterday. It may be a temporary spike, but it is back to where the original "Former Naval Person" blog was in June 2007. Too bad there is no advertising that would be comfortable with the blog (NSFW) and that I would also be comfortable with carrying. I have had enough of Triple-X advertising on a PG to R blog. There seems to be no middle ground, however, and I don't understand why. It seems that if Google would allow it, there are suitable advertisers available, but then Google does not allow it, so that is that.

Robert Gates seems to be carrying water for the administration

I am not that tightly locked into the issues, but Robert Gates seems more interested in cutting defense spending than funding what is needed. The GE F135 engine is a case in point. The present administration has little interest in defense spending, except as pork, and is constantly on the prowl, looking for programs to cut.

They ruined Google Chrome

The geniuses at Google ruined Google Chrome. I had started using Chrome as my everyday browser, but now that they made the bookmark manager just a tab, instead of a separate application, they ruined the usability. I want to be able to "organize bookmarks" and get the separate application. Now, everytime you select a bookmark, you go to it (the wrong thing to do) and lose the manager.

Apparently, the surprising news was true

Yes, the news that surprised me was true. I read it on an official website. The reason was the usual one: "tools". I have mixed feelings about all that, as the "tools" were both entertaining and informative. I listened to them all the time in the 1990's and had favorites. Still, a leader could make a lot of money selling "tools" and not necessarily make money from "the business". That was the problem. Our guy got bounced in 2007 over "tools".
